Em Vaughn
Beyond Stigma, There’s a Story
Em Vaughn (she/her) is a first-time filmmaker who strives to document the lives of sex workers in an authentic light. As a sex worker herself, Vaughn is inspired by her community and believes that the personal histories of sex workers must be preserved due to their historic erasure. Currently, Vaughn focuses on building community with sex workers in recovery from addiction via documentary filmmaking. Vaughn is a self-taught videographer and photographer. Vaughn writes a blog and also co-hosts a podcast that both chronicle her life as well as other sex workers’. For her personal safety, she chooses to retain some anonymity by wearing sunglasses.
