Sex, Death and Taxidermy: The Film

Goal: $15,000

Calling all bone-collectors, feather foragers, jackalope enthusiasts, and goth girlies, let me tell you about a feature I’m producing!

For the past year, I have been documenting taxidermist, artist, and educator Divya (they/she) of Gotham Taxidermy. In addition to Divya, I have been documenting the rising wave of queer conservation-minded taxidermists who blend both life and death in their artwork at an annual competition called Wunderkammer.

Wunderkammer 2025 will be filmed for the first time ever!

But Wunderkammer is just one piece of the feature- and a joyful one at that. It has been my pleasure to go on this journey with Divya and everyone who has participated!

But now I need your help.

The Artists

The film also follows Nick, a young prolific taxidermist who has received awards for his astounding creatures at past Wunderkammer competitions.

Other featured artists include SamSam Graves (Wunderkammer judge) and Molly Tenzer (previous Wunderkammer winner).

Me

This is my first feature project. I have directed, filmed, and completed three documentary shorts. I primarily work in the adult industries and my documentary film work has been centered around people I am in community with.

Costs

The film still has a long way to go until it is completed. I plan to wrap filming in early 2026, and then the expensive work of editing, mixing, and scoring begins; just to name a few things.

Here are some examples:

Color Grading: $4000

Editing: $8,000+

Sound Mixing: $3000

Music Licensing: $2000

Marketing and Festival Submissions: $3,000

Phew!
